Why We Make Disciples — A Message from Our Founder

Be1 Make1 is a disciple-making ministry founded in 2016 by Randy Holland with a singular burden: to see men—and ultimately the church as a whole—obediently live out the Great Commission as commanded by Jesus in Matthew 28:18–20. From the beginning, the heart of Be1 Make1 has been to move discipleship from theory to practice by equipping believers to intentionally invest in others.
At the core of Be1Make1 is a clear, biblical understanding of disciple making. Disciple making is one maturing believer intentionally leading another maturing believer in the obedience of faith so they can do the same to others. By this definition, Randy believes discipleship is best facilitated in a one-to-one setting, where relationships are personal, accountability is present, and spiritual growth is reproducible.
What began as a focus on equipping men quickly gained traction within local churches. As men were trained to disciple other men, pastors and ministry leaders began to see the fruit of intentional, relational discipleship taking root in their congregations. This led to growing invitations for Be1 Make1 to come alongside churches to train and equip their men through focused conferences and retreats.
Today, Be1 Make1 primarily serves churches through men’s disciple-making conferences held across the United States and internationally. These gatherings are designed to equip men with a biblical framework, practical tools, and a clear vision for discipling others faithfully and intentionally.
Alongside this primary focus, Be1 Make1 also equips women through dedicated women’s retreats, recognizing the vital role women play in generational discipleship within the church. Together, these efforts reflect the broader mission of Be1 Make1—to see disciples who make disciples, strengthening the local church through obedience, faithfulness, and multiplication.
Randy continues to model this vision personally by leading a weekly Bible study at Highlands Church in Scottsdale, Arizona, and by investing deeply in the lives of others. Over the years, he has discipled dozens of men and, through faithful gospel witness, has had the privilege of seeing many men and women come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Be1 Make1 exists to serve the local church by equipping believers, primarily men, and also women, to live out biblical, one-to-one discipleship. Our story is not about a program, but about obedience to Christ and a commitment to be one and make one.
